About Dr. Tim

Dr. Tim Clinton, Ed.D., LPC, LMFT

Dr. Tim Clinton is President of the 50,000-member American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). He serves as Executive Director of the Liberty University Center for Counseling and Family Studies and is a Professor of Counseling and Pastoral Care. He also serves as Special Assistant to the Chancellor at Liberty University.

Tim recently became Chairman of the Covenant Marriage Movement and is a member of the Arlington Group, a national marriage and family advocacy and policy leadership forum, based in Washington, DC. He is President of Light Counseling, Inc., in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Tim is the Executive Editor and co-author of Caring for People God’s Way: A New Guide to Christian Counseling and Competent Christian Counseling: Foundations and Practice of Compassionate Soul Care. He was Executive Editor and a primary writer for The Soul Care Bible. Tim is also author of Attachments: Unlock the Secret to Loving and Being Loved and the newly released and repackaged Why You Do the Things You Do: The Secret to Healthy Relationships. Released in May, 2006 is Loving Your Child Too Much: Staying Close to your Kids without Overprotecting, Overindulging, or Overcontrolling and his latest book, Turn Your Life Around: Breaking Free from Your Past and Discovering God’s Dream for You releases this fall, 2006.

Tim has authored over 150 articles, chapters, notes, and columns on Christian counseling, counselor education and development, and on marriage, family life, and parenting issues. He is co-author of Baby Boomer Bluesin Word's Contemporary Christian Counselor series, and author of Before a Bad Goodbye: How to Turn Your Marriage Around, and The Marriage You Always Wanted.

Tim and his wife Julie, President of Extraordinary Woman ministries, have been married for 26 years, and have two children—Megan and Zachary.  The family resides in Forest, Virginia.
